About Ammolite

Ammolite is a precious organic gemstone highly coveted for its spectacular iridescence. Ammolite is believed to possess high vibration energies and restorative properties. Ammolites are also openly associated with perfection, knowledge and wisdom, and are said to grant their owner success, wealth, and fortuitous relationships.

Ammolite is derived from the fossilised shell of a cephalopod, ammonites. Ammonites fell to extinction during the late Cretaceous age and were buried deep under the sea, for millions of years. Under intense pressure and extreme heat, some ammonites successfully mineralised into ammolites — and the captivating colours we see today. They are formed approximately 66 million years ago.

Each ammolite is nature’s masterpiece and is extremely hard to come by. No two pieces are the same. Only as few as 5% of ammolites found are preserved well enough to be crafted into gemstones. Ammolite with brilliant and mesmerising iridescence is only found in one location – in the mountain regions of Southern Alberta of Canada.

There are total of three grades – AAA, AA, and A. For a detailed explanation, please look into Ammolite Grading.

About Meteorite

A meteorite is a natural object from outer space that survives its passage through the Earth’s atmosphere and lands on the surface. These objects, often fragments of asteroids or comets, can vary in size and composition and are of scientific interest due to their extraterrestrial origin.

Meteorites are formed in outer space from the remnants of asteroids or comets. These celestial bodies can collide, break apart, or undergo other processes, resulting in fragments. When these fragments enter Earth’s atmosphere and survive the intense heat and pressure during entry, they become meteorites.

Meteorites are considered rare because they originate from celestial bodies in space, such as asteroids or comets, and only a small fraction of them reach the Earth’s surface. The vast majority burn up in the Earth’s atmosphere during their descent, due to the intense heat generated by friction. Additionally, the size and frequency of meteorite impacts on Earth are relatively low. Hence, there are limited sources of meteorites on Earth. There are multiple types of meteorites on Earth, and only 0.2% are classified as Pallasite Meteorites.

Pallasites meteorites are a type of stony-iron meteorite characterized by the presence of olivine crystals embedded in a metallic matrix. Sericho was discovered in 2016 in the Sericho area near Habaswein, Kenya. The golden olivine crystals in Sericho create a striking visual contrast with the metallic background.

The combination of large, well-defined olivine crystals and the metallic matrix makes Sericho visually captivating. The gem-like appearance of the olivine adds an extra layer of beauty to this meteorite.
